Votes basically tell you what people think of the song. It doesnt accomplish anything other than that. Voting only come on when the song is playing.

Hi there,
EYE97 is run as a hobby and all the funding for the servers, royalties, streaming is all coming out of my pocket. This is why donaitons always help but never covers the costs. I do it because I love what I do and like to hear from people. Yes its an expensive hobby but it would be nice if some people gave to the cause as its quite easy to take and forget to give but I guess thats how things work usually. EYE97 will always run commercial free. Very little ad revenue comes in way of websites. So if users cant donate then the way they could help is by clicking on the banners to support our cause. Thanks again. Regards RJ |

I don't mean to be rude, but does eye97 have a viable business model? I came here from Yahoo's Launchcast radio, which they sold to CBS (excuse me, it is now "powered by CBS"), and they couldn't seem to make a go of ad-supported internet radio. Granted, Yahoo has its own unique set of problems, but I think the death knell for Launchcast was the punitive SoundExchange/RIAA royalty regime. I'm just curious as to how Eye97 can survive in this environment.
By the way, I found eye97 from someone who recommended eye97 as a substitute for Launchcast radio. I really liked Launchcast and was happy to subscribe to their "Plus" premium version. With some opportune marketing, perhaps Eye97 could pick up some of the soon-to-be orphaned Launchcast and Launchcast Plus listeners. Launchcast Plus goes away on 2/12/2009. |

It owuld be nice if you could vote on the song that just concluded playing. A few times, I went to vote on a song that had played, but by the time I went to vote, the next song was playing, and I couldn't vote on the song I wanted to vote on. Just an idea. What do the votes accomplish, anyway?

Hello fellow EYE97 listeners,
EYE97 has just joined World Community Grid. What is world community Grid you ask. Well in a nut shell here is what WCG does: In just 10 minutes, you can help nearly 60 millions people. There are many ways that caring individuals can contribute to humanity, but few require as little time and effort as World Community Grid. It is a truly breakthrough project that can change the lives of hundreds of millions of people around the globe. World Community Grid is a huge and growing network of over one million individual computers. Working together, they are providing scientists with tremendous computational power — equivalent in size to the world's third largest supercomputer — to accelerate their research on some of the world's most critical problems, including human disease, world hunger and climate change. Here's how you can help make a difference and join World Community Grid: Individuals download a simple and secure program. This program detects when your computer is idle*, e.g., when you're out for lunch or in a meeting. During these times, your computer requests research work from World Community Grid's server. It then performs computations on this data and sends the results back. You don't have to do anything at all, and it's completely safe. Because the work is split into small pieces that are analyzed simultaneously, research time is being slashed from years, to months and even days. For example, a project that helped scientists learn more about cancer was completed in just months on World Community Grid. Using conventional computing resources, it would have taken approximately 100,000 years to complete the research. For more info you can check out this link: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/wb/viewInfoAll.do To join and make a difference, please click on this link: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/viewRegister.do?teamID=SWC2KZC7V1. I urge all listeners to join in a great cause. With free music I am sure this is not asking for much. Thanks for your time. |
